This part of the website is about county hunting. You know what that is....

OK... you didn't know we'd lost any counties (so obviously, you've never been to West Virginia).  ANYWAY.... there are 3,077 counties scattered among the 50 United States, and the object of county hunting is to make a two-way ham radio contact with hams who are operating from each county. Simple... uh huh!

CQ Magazine gives out an award for working all USA counties. The USA Counties Award (USA-CA) has been earned by over 1,100 hams, and that includes a few DX ops from as far away as Australia!

KE3VV is USA-CA holder No. 950. In county hunting parlance, that means KE3VV has "one star." When you work all counties more than once, you earn more stars from MARAC, the mobile awards club that offers much more wallpaper and handsome wooden plaques for other county hunting achievements. You will find out a lot more about MARAC as you browse through the web site. But now, an important bit of county hunter knowledge. . .

This is a COUNTY LION . . . . . County Lions are very important to county hunters. These magnificent creatures live between counties and help mobile county hunters tell which county they are in.

If you want to know more about where County Lions come from, click on the County Lion and go to his lair.

The County Lion knows a lot of good stuff about County Hunting.... so one of the features now being contructed for this website is the County Lion's Guide to County Hunting....
